After Mom jeans and leather pants made a comeback, I wasn’t surprised that vinyl too, would come back as the new hot, trendy pair of pants in everyone’s closet. They are sexier, and have a more rock’n’roll attitude than your typical leather pants. When I first saw them in store at Zara I seriously questioned them, which is usually the case with rare, more ‘out-there’ fashion trends such as vinyl pants. The more I saw them in different stores I began to become more open-minded to the trend. I saw different takes on them, such as Nordstrom’s high-rise crackled pair which I love! One of my favourite bloggers Happily Grey did an excellent job of styling them. She wore them in a way that I would, and that is when I really began to contemplate purchasing a pair. I knew that it wasn’t an item I would necessarily wear often so I opted for a more affordable pair from Zara (of course, because I practically live there).
The rumours are true – vinyl pants aren’t easy to wear at all! The vinyl trouser, or patent leather pant works as a statement pant. This is why I dressed them down with this feminine flutter sleeve shirt from David Lerner. I went with the feel I got from the pants which was ‘edgy’ and paired them with my fishnet socks from Asos. Finding a pair of shoes that went with this look was not easy, I personally do not like these specific pair of vinyl pants with booties, I prefer slides, sneakers, or heels.
I think It is safe to say that vinyl pants aren’t for everyone, but if you happen to like the trend as much as I do, they can be very fun!
